Distracted Driving - A Growing Problem

We all know the main reasons for fatal and serious injury crashes.  Drivers are not paying attention, are distracted, alcohol and speeding.  There is now the added danger of cell phone use while driving.  According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Association, at any point during daylight hours, over 800,000 vehicles are being driven by someone using a hand-held cell phone. If you own a business, then know that some of your employees may be conducting business behind the wheel with a cell phone.

If they cause an accident, their employer could be responsible not just for workers' compensation and disability claims, but also for liability judgments and for fines associated with criminal vehicular activity.

You can help save lives and money by making them aware of the risk they face when employees use cell phones while driving on company business. Please take a minute to read The Hartford's Distracted Driving - A Growing Problem.   This is a great read with information and resources to help develop their own distracted driving policies.
