Distracted Driving - A Growing Problem
We all know the main reasons for fatal and serious injury crashes. Drivers are not paying attention, are distracted, alcohol and speeding. There is now the added danger of cell phone use while driving. According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Association, at any point during daylight hours, over 800,000 vehicles are being driven by someone using a hand-held cell phone. If you own a business, then know that some of your employees may be conducting business behind the wheel with a cell phone.
If they cause an accident, their employer could be responsible not just for workers' compensation and disability claims, but also for liability judgments and for fines associated with criminal vehicular activity.
